CHARACTERISTICS OF TELEFLEX CABLE

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION From a mechanical and kinematic point of view the TELEFLEX cable is comparable to the action of a rack on a gear, transforming the circular movement to angular and vice versa.
A metal core, properly calibrated and shaped, contains throughout its path the TELEFLEX cable which operates as flexible rack.
It has the particularity to transmit efforts both in traction and compression with complete interchangeability.
The cable is made up of more wire windings, heat-treated to achieve the appropriate characteristics of flexibility and resistance.

GENERAL FEATURES OF FLEXIBLE MECHANICAL CONTROLS

LOW FRICTION COEFFICIENT The low friction coefficient during the operation is assured by the design of the cable and the use of special material for the internal plastic liner. Being the cable composed by coils wounded to helix, the only contact among the surfaces during the slide of the cable is along the generating coils of the external helix, therefore the section is reduced and not continue. The lubricant placed during the assembly operates between coil and coil.

MAXIMUM EXTERNAL PROTECTION To ensure the maximum protection of the cable during the operation, the cable and the plastic liner are contained within a robust metal core externally coated with plastic that besides allowing the flexibility in any direction, is an effective protection against impacts, abrasions, use of solvents, etc....

PERMANENT LUBRICATION In the Teleflex remote control flexible cable the unit made by the core and cable is a set compact and sealed against every possibility of entry of dust and dirt during the operation. In fact, once the lubricant is introduced at the assembly between the cable and the internal plastic liner, the metal core is rigidly locked by seized terminals and the seized areas are protected by rubber caps or bellows.

OPPORTUNITY FOR THE MISALIGNMENT OF THE ENDS Through an incorporated rotating swivelling joint, a deflection angle of 10 degrees in any direction is allowed to the terminals of the cable. This feature enables the control of the misalignment and the movement along an arch line.

These are some examples where the length of core, cable and the type of end terminals may vary depending on the specific use.
